Morling Choir

Welcome to the Morling Choir page!

If you’re on the Sydney campus and you love to sing, then we would love you to join us as part of the Morling Choir. Choir membership is open to both Morling students and staff, as well as to staff from other Sydney-campus organisations such as the Baptist Association. Basically, apart from your availability, there are just two requirements:

  • You need to be able to sing!
  • You need a serving heart that would love to sing together with others!

We’re not looking for solo voices, as beautiful as they may be, but for voices that can learn together to sing sacred music collaboratively in four-part harmony.

The ability to read music is desirable, but not essential (training can be provided).

The choir will be led by student Daniel Sze as Choir Coordinator, who is an experienced church choir director and conductor.

Practices:

Because we are all busy people, practices are designed to be kept to the minimum, but to be efficient!

In Semester 2, 2021, practices will be held every second Wednesday in the MALC auditorium 8:15–9:15am (i.e., in Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12). Please be aware that on-campus rehearsals are subject to Sydney COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

Performances:

In Semester 2, 2021, the choir will be preparing to perform items in Tuesday chapel services in Weeks 7, 9, 11 and 13.

As the choir grows, it is hoped that there will also be opportunities in 2022 to perform in other settings, including perhaps outreach into the local community, local retirement villages and the 2022 Morling Graduation ceremony.

Contacts:

On the Sydney campus, you can enquire about the choir by talking to Daniel Sze (Choir Coordinator), Peter Friend (Dean of Students) or Linda Corner (MALC Concierge)
