Mission to Seafarers is seeking a Chaplain to join our amazing chaplaincy team based at The Rocks, in Sydney.

The Mission is located a very close to Wynyard Station and the glistening Sydney Harbour. We are few minutes walk from The Opera House, The Harbor Bridge, and Barangaroo. 

About the role:

The chaplain will provide quality person-centred Chaplaincy/ Pastoral Care that meets the needs of Seafarers from around the world, consistent with The Mission’s Purpose and Values. 

The position is a 4 day a week role based in Millers Point.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in chaplaincy /pastoral care OR tertiary theological qualifications 
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of Christian spiritual maturity with a pastoral heart
  • Active involvement in and recommendation from a local Christian Church
  • Chaplaincy or pastoral care experience
  • Experience working with diverse cultural groups
    (speaking another language is an asset)
  • Current drivers license and willingness to gain a Bus license (LR)

 

About Us:

Mission to Seafarers in Sydney provides care and support for seafarers of all faiths. We support seafarers so they can survive one of the world’s loneliest and toughest jobs, away from loved ones and the comfort of home, often for 9 months or more.

Our Mission Centre is open 7 days a week offering practical help, a place to reconnect, recharge and renew. Our experienced Chaplains speak over seven languages to help meet the seafarers’ diverse needs. We have welcomed seafarers from over 70 nations over the last 12 months. 

We provide free transport from the ports to The Rocks, wifi, counselling, welfare and arrange medical services. We visit and make deliveries to those unable to leave their ships.
